Ze swoim piątym albumem uderzają bluźniercy z fińskiego Womit Angel. Wcześniej nie obczajałem niczego od tych jegomości, ale wystarczył jeden odsłuch "Sadopunk Finland" i już wiem, że temat musi zostać na cito nadrobiony. Lubicie Impaled Nazarene, Gehennah, Nocturnal Breed? Ta płyta jest totalnie dla was! Już sama okładka materiału sugeruje, co będzie się tu działo i że dostaniemy konkretny cios w ryj. Uwielbiam "Suomi Finland Perkele" i ta płyta Womit Angel chyli czoło tym klasykiem fińskiej sceny. Jest tu black metalowy chaos, wszelkie możliwe bluźnierstwo, do tego dochodzi punkowy brut i rock 'n' rollowa chwytliwość. Mieszanka wprost wyśmienita! Trzydzieści minut obskurnego punk metalu! Może nie jest to oryignalne, jest prosto i bezpośrednio, ale po jaką cholerę ma być inaczej? To działa! "Sadopunk Finland", to dla mnie niemal ta sama liga, co Impaled Nazarene i jeżeli ich starsi koledzy odejdą w pewnym momencie na tzw. emeryturę, to Womit Angel zajmie ich tron. I będzie to dziedzic godny tego zaszczytu. Dajcie sobie spokój z czymkolwiek innym i walcie do Grega po ten album, bo w tej estetyce na chwilę obecną nic lepszego nie znajdziecie.

Earlier I did not check anything from these guys, but one listening to "Sadopunk Finland" was enough and I already know that the subject has to be made up for. Do you like Impaled Nazarene, Gehennah, Nocturnal Breed? This album is totally for you! The very cover of the material suggests what will happen here and that we will get a concrete fist in the face. I love "Suomi Finland Perkele" and this Womit Angel album is bowing down with this classic of the Finnish scene. There is black metal chaos, all possible blasphemy, plus punk dirt and rock 'n' roll catchiness. The mixture is simply delicious! Thirty minutes of obscure punk metal! It may not be original, it is straightforward and direct, but why the hell should it be any different? It works! "Sadopunk Finland" for me is almost the same league as Impaled Nazarene and if their older colleagues leave at some point for the so-called retire, Womit Angel will take their throne. And it will be an heir worthy of this honor. Give up on anything else and hit Godz Ov War for this album, because you won't find anything better in this aesthetics at the moment.

Corrupter - Descent Into Madness (Godz Ov War Productions 2022)

Jeżeli ktoś z was jest spragniony ciężkiego, smolistego death metalu, to trafił pod właściwy adres i na właściwą płytę! Debiutancki "Descent Into Madness" francuskiego Corrupter (z muzykami znanymi już z Morgue) to death metal starej szkoły z gatunku tych ciężkich, gęstych, dusznych pełnych wszelakiego truchła i makabry. Fani takich zespołów jak Mortician, Incantation, Dead Congregation, Vomitory czy Funebrarum będą tu mieli czego posłuchać. Poza brutalnością, materiał minuta po minucie odkrywa przed słuchaczem swoją niepokojącą, ponurą aurę, niczym z jakiegoś horroru. Death metal w wykonaniu Corrupter ma też swoją głębię, tzw. drugi plan, na którym sporo się dzieje i z każdym kolejnym odsłuchem widać, że nie jest to tylko brutalny, zatęchły death metal, a zespół żongluje zarówno nowymi, jaki i starymi rozwiązaniami. Jest tu dużo zwolnień, przyspieszeń, trochę perkusyjnych łamańców, ale płyta zachowuje we wszystkich swych składnikach pożądany balans, a całość podbija solidne, mocne brzmienie. Materiał ma ewidentny potencjał i z tego, co w tym roku w ramach death metalu słyszałem, stawiam go bardzo wysoko. Wciągający, świadomy, dojrzały. Panowie wiedzą, co robią i robią to dobrze."Decent Into Madness" ma realne szanse być w podziemiu dostrzeżonym i zaskarbić sobie miejsce wśród najlepszych debiutów tego roku.

"Descent Into Madness", the debut of French Corrupter (with musicians already known from Morgue) is an oldschool death metal from those heavy, dense, stuffy genre full of all kind of corpses and macabre. Fans of bands such as Mortician, Incantation, Dead Congregation, Vomitory or Funebrarum will have something to listen to here. In addition to brutality, minute by minute the material reveals its disturbing, gloomy aura to the listener, like from some horror movie. Death metal performed by Corrupter also has its depth, the so-called the background, where a lot is going on and with each subsequent listening you can see that it is not only brutal, musty death metal, and the band mixes both new and old solutions. There are a lot of slowdowns, fast tempos, some drum breaks, but the album maintains the desired balance in all its components, and the whole thing is enhanced by a solid, strong sound. The material has a clear potential and from what I heard this year in death metal, I grade it very highly. Immersive, aware, mature. These guys know what they are doing and they do it well. "Decent Into Madness" has a real chance to be noticed in the underground and win a place among the best debuts of this year.

Persecutory - Summoning the Lawless Legions (Godz Ov War Productions 2022)

Persecutory nie słuchałem już dawno. Od czasu ich pełnej płyty i jej recenzji, którą pisałem minęło już pięć długich lat. A tu raptem w tym roku pojawia się następca "Towards the Ultimate Extinction" w postaci "Summoning the Lawless Legions" i... Płyta dosłownie powala! Już od pierwszych dźwięków mam wrażenie, że zespół się zmienił, okrzepł, wypracował swój własny styl, a i kompozycyjnie, brzmieniowo jest o wiele lepiej i ciekawiej. Zespół brzmi tutaj czysto i potężnie z każdą chwilą budując mroczną i mistyczną aurę swojego albumu. Utwory są przestrzenne, wokale dodaną mają odrobinę pogłosu, co daje wrażenie jakby muzyka uderzała ze swojego źródła w jakąś bezkresną, ciemną pustkę. Muzycznie zespół oscyluje wokół takich grup jak Angelcorpse, Watain, a i ma w sobie również coś z Sarinvomit, którego dwaj muzycy (konkretnie wokalista i basista) udzielają się właśnie w Persecutory. Na uwagę zasługują znakomite partie solowe gitar. Nie tak znowu zawsze słyszy się tak udane i pełne harmonii i melodii solówki w tego typu graniu, do tego pasujące do klimatu utworów, balansujące agresję albumu i dodatkowo budujące niepokojącą aurę płyty. No i wokal, jeden z najlepszych, jakie ostatnio słyszałem. Pełen jadu, złowieszczości, z barwą jakby z założenia przeznaczoną do tej muzyki. Sztos! "Summoning the Lawless Darkness" oceniam bardzo wysoko i jestem płytą mega pozytywnie zaskoczony. O taki black/death metal walczyłem!

I haven't listened to Persecutory for a long time. It's been five long years since their debut full-length album and its review that I wrote. And here suddenly this year the successor of "Towards the Ultimate Extinction" appears in the form of "Summoning the Lawless Legions" and ... The album literally kicks ass! From the very first sounds, I have the impression that the band has changed, solidified, developed its own style, and the compositions and sound are much better and more interesting. The band sounds clean and powerful here, building the dark and mystical aura of their album with every moment. The songs are spacious, the vocals have a bit of reverb added to them, which gives the impression that the music is drifting from its source into some endless, dark void. Musically, the band oscillates around such stuff as Angelcorpse, Watain, and also has something in common with Sarinvomit, which two musicians (specifically the vocalist and bassist) play in Persecutory as well. The excellent guitar solo parts deserve attention. This is not often to hear so successful solos, full of harmony and melody in this type of playing that match the atmosphere of the album, balancing the aggression and additionally building the disturbing aura of the album. And the vocals, one of the best I've heard recently. Full of venom, ominousness, as if intended for this music. Perfect! I rate "Summoning the Lawless Darkness" very highly and I am positively surprised by the album. I fought for such black/death metal!

Amaltheia - Amaltheia (Godz Ov War Productions 2022)

Amaltheia to nowy grecko-angielski zespół parający się bardzo osobliwą formą black metalu, a właściwie death black metalu, powiedziałbym, że techniczną, nieco połamaną, pozostającą wciąż w stosunkowo oldschoolowym brzmieniu. Materiał zaczyna się jak Burzum na sterydach, żeby zaraz przejść w mnogość różnych odniesień i kompozycyjnych połamańców. Są tu i bardziej chwytliwe momenty, bardziej tradycyjne w strukturach, ale również nieschematyczne rozwiązania, których w tego typu graniu nie spotyka się codziennie. Miejscami tworzy to pewien muzyczny chaos. Nawet jest w tym jakaś metoda. W sumie od razu pomyślałem o takim Aevangelist lub Deathspell Omega na przykład, których muzyka też nie jet taka dosłowna i jednoznaczna, dokładnie tak, jak ma to miejsce z Amaltheia. Szczerze powiem, że mimo swojej kompleksowości i oryginalności płyty słuchało mi się średnio, jakoś ciężko mi było przebrnąć przez nią za każdym razem, gdy ją odpalałem i starałem się w to wszystko zagłębić. Ale jest to kwestia absolutnie subiektywna. W black metalu wolę inne rozwiązania, chyba bardziej oczywiste, tradycyjne. Bardzo podobało mi się u Amaltheia to oldschoolowe brzmienie płyty, wokal, aczkolwiek sama budowa kompozycji już do mojego gustu tak nie przypadła. Jednym słowem, wszystko fajnie, ale nie ta forma, nie te nuty. Jeżeli ktoś lubi black metal, który trochę odjeżdża od tych już okrzepłych na scenie form, to Amaltheia będzie ciekawym wyzwaniem. Płyta będzie dla was totalnie nieprzewidywalna.

Amaltheia is a new Greek-English band dealing with a very peculiar form of black metal, or actually death black metal, I would say technical, a bit broken, still in a relatively oldschool sound. The material starts like Burzum on steroids, only to pass into a multitude of different references and compositional breaks. There are also more catchy moments, more traditional in structures, but also non-schematic solutions that are not encountered every day in this type of playing. Sometimes it creates a kind of musical chaos. There is even a method to it. All in all, I immediately thought about such bands like Aevangelist or Deathspell Omega, for example, whose music is not as straightforward and obvious, so the same as Amaltheia. Honestly, despite the complexity and originality of the album, I had average joy  when listening to it, somehow it was hard for me to get through it every time I started it up and tried to dive into it. But this is an absolutely subjective point. In black metal, I prefer other solutions, probably more obvious, traditional solutions. I really liked Amalthei's oldschool sound, vocals, although the structure of the composition itself was not to my liking. In a word, everything is fine, but not this form, not these notes. If someone likes black/death metal, which deviates a bit from these already well-established forms, Amaltheia will be an interesting challenge. The album will be totally unpredictable for you.

Warfist - Teufels (Godz ov War Productions 2022)

Zielonogórski Warfist rozwija skrzydła z płyty na płytę. Trzy lata temu wydali znakomity "Grunberger", który na tamtą chwilę był ich najlepszym wydawnictwem, pod każdym możliwym względem. Poprzeczkę postawili tą płytą bardzo wysoko. A tu pojawia się w tym roku "Teufels". I co? I pozamiatane! Warfist nagrywa płytę, gdzie zawarli esencję swojego stylu - agresję, chwytliwość i riffy, riffy i jeszcze raz riffy! Bo nimi stoi ta płyta. Każdy nośny, zapadający w pamięć i podbity świetnym brzmieniem. No i teksty po raz kolejny opowiadające konkretne historie, jest jakiś koncept wiodący. Warfist jest obecnie jednym z najlepszych reprezentantów polskiego thrashu podkutego diabłem. Nie są kolejną kopią Destruction itp. jakich teraz jest na pęczki. W pewnym sensie są takim naszym krajowym Desaster. Skąd takie porównanie? Desaster zawsze odróżniali się na niemieckiej scenie, mieli i mają swój własny charakterystyczny styl, swoją własną drogę grając na przekór wszystkim trendom. Za taki zespół uważam również Warfist. Płyta "Teufels" to kolejna pozycja na krajowej scenie, która w swojej niszy będzie się wyróżniać. Oczywiście słychać w tym inspiracje Sodom, Kreator, Dark Angel plus stempel Venom z czasów "Black Metal", ale mimo tego zespół brzmi indywidualnie, ma swój charakter. Ze swojej strony przesyłam zespołowi ukłony i szacun za kolejne znakomite dzieło, a wam polecam je sobie sprawdzić! Takiego thrashu, to mogę słuchać!

Warfist frm Zielona Góra (Poland) spreads its wings from album to album. Three years ago they released the brilliant "Grunberger", which at the time was their best release in every way possible. They set the bar very high with it. And here comes "Teufels" this year. And what? And it rules! Warfist records an album where they captured the essence of their style - aggression, catchiness and riffs, riffs and riffs again! Because that's what this album stands for. Each one is carrying, memorable and enhanced with great sound. And the lyrics are once again telling specific stories, there is a guiding concept. Warfist is currently one of the best representatives of Polish devilish (or blackened) thrash. They are not just another copy of Destruction etc. which are dominating the scene. In some ways they are our PolishDesaster. Where does this comparison come from? Desaster have always distinguished themselves on the German scene, they had and have their own charactrisitc style, playing in their own way against all trends. I also consider Warfist to be such a band. The album "Teufels" is another position on the local scene that will stand out in its niche. Of course you can hear the inspirations taken from Sodom, Kreator, Dark Angel plus the Venom stamp from the "Black Metal" era, but the band sounds individual and has its own character. For my part, I send my regards to the band and respect for another excellent work, and I recommend you to check it out! I can listen to such thrash!

Cultum Interitum - Veneration of The New Dawn (Godz ov War Productions 2021)

To już drugi album Cultum Interitum w barwach Godz ov War i drugi pełniak zespołu. Grupa tworzy jedną z najbardziej dusznych i mrocznych odmian black/death metalu, jaką dane mi było słyszeć. "Veneration of the New Dawn" tylko jeszcze bardziej pogłębia muzykę zespołu w tej charakterystycznej aurze. Jest bardzo niepokojąca, brzmi jakby muzyka wydobywała się z jakieś jaskini, jamy czy studni sięgającej samego Hadesu. Płyta sprawia też wrażenie nagranej na setkę, jakby zespół po prostu wszedł do studia i w jednej sali odegrał całość materiału znajdującego się na krążku jakościowo wypadając przy tym bardzo dobrze. Zaintrygowała mnie też spójność elementów graficznych z muzyką Cultum Interitum. Jakbym chciał przedstawić obrazem, to co zespół przedstawia na "Veneration of a New Dawn", to widziałbym właśnie taki styl i takie obrazy - śmierć, bluźnierstwo, zagłada, wszystko w szarych i czarnych kolorach. Jeżeli lubicie takie zespoły jak Sortilegia, Doombringer, Ritual Death, to Cultum Interitum z pewnością trafi w wasz gust. To sztuka bezkompromisowa, która nie szuka poklasku i szerszej publiki, robią swoje od początku do końca przenosząc nas w najgłębsze otchłanie piekła i wir apokalipsy. To metal dla najtwardszych zawodników.

This is Cultum Interitum's second album for Godz ov War and the band's second full-length album in general. The group creates one of the stuffiest and darkest types of black/death metal I've ever heard. "Veneration of the New Dawn" only deepens the band's music in this characteristic aura even more. It is very disturbing, it sounds as if the music is coming from some cave, cavity or well reaching Hades itself. The album also gives the impression of being recorded live, as if the band just entered the studio and in one room played all the material on the disc in one go, still doing it very well in a proper quality. I was also intrigued by the consistency of the graphic elements with the music of Cultum Interitum. If I wanted to present with a picture, what the band presents on "Veneration of a New Dawn", then I would see such a style and such images - death, blasphemy, annihilation, all in gray and black colours. If you like bands such as Sortilegia, Doombringer, Ritual Death, then Cultum Interitum will surely appeal to you. It is an uncompromising art that doesn't seek applause and the wider audience, it does its job from beginning to end, taking us to the deepest abyss of hell and the vortex of the apocalypse. It's metal for the toughest players.

Wilczyca - DrakoNequissime (Godz Ov War Productions 2021)

Ze swoim trzecim albumem uderza ponownie Wilczyca. Zespół nie próżnuje i wypluwa kolejny black metalowy wyziew. Już nie od dziś wiadomo jak mocno inspirowana brzmieniem podziemnej sceny lat 90 jest ta bestia. "DrakoNequissime" jest tego pięknym przykładem. Surowizna, mrok, bród, kompozycje tną słuchacza niczym brzytwa, a mimo tego materiał jest czytelny i pełen wszechogarniającej niepokojącej atmosfery. Zespół bazując na piwniczym brzmieniu sprzed lat stworzył własną niszę na krajowej scenie i własny, osobisty charakter kreowanej prze siebie muzyki. Wilczyca w jakiś sposób intrygowała mnie już na samym początku swej muzycznej ścieżki, "Horda" pogłębiła to zainteresowanie, natomiast "DrakoNequissime" to już dla mnie mistrzostwo w swojej dziedzinie,serio (i jeszcze ta okładka - ktoś ewidentnie odrobił pracę domową). Zespół dojrzał i nagrał swój, na chwilę obecną, najlepszy materiał - tak uważam. Nienawistny, ostry, bezkompromisowy, bardzo charakterny, tak na wskroś bluźnierczy, tak cudownie topornie brzmiący. Jeżeli do kogoś ma tak przemożnie pasować ów charakterystyczne gitarowe rzężenie, to właśnie do Wilczycy. Taką czarną wiśnią na tym black metalowym torcie jest utwór "Jeszcze Zemści się Ziemia" w którym swojego wokalu użyczył Roman Kostrzewski. Wypadł fenomenalnie. Wokalista Kata starzeje się niczym najlepsze wino i wciąż czaruje swym głosem i ekspresją. Jego linia wokalna, jaką miał tu do zaśpiewania uważam za jedną z najlepszych, jakie wykonał przez te wszystkie lata. Romku, szacunek ogromny, a dla Panów z Wilczycy gratulacje za pomysł i zaproszenie Romana na płytę. Brać ten album w ciemno, nie miejcie wątpliwości!

Wilczyca strikes again with their third album. The band is not idle and spits out another black metal exhaust. It has been known for a long time how strongly inspired by the sound of the underground scene of the 90s this beast is. "DrakoNequissime" is a beautiful example of this. Rawness, darkness, dirt, compositions cut the listener like a razor, and yet the material is legible and full of overwhelming disturbing atmosphere. The band, basing on the obscure sound from years ago, has created its own niche on the domestic scene and its own, personal character of the music it creates. Wilczyca somehow intrigued me at the very beginning of its musical path, "Horda" deepened this interest, while "DrakoNequissime" is a mastery in its field for me, seriously (and this cover - someone has clearly done his homework). The band matured and recorded their best material at the moment - that's my opinion. Hateful, sharp, uncompromising, full of its own character, so blasphemous through and through, so wonderfully raw. If someone is to be so overwhelmingly suited to this characteristic guitar rattle, it is Wilczyca. Black cherry on this black metal cake is the song "Jeszcze Zemści się Ziemia" in which Roman Kostrzewski lends his vocals. It fell out phenomenally. The vocalist of Kat ages like the best wine and still charms with his voice and expression. I consider his vocal line here as one of the best he has ever done. Romek, huge respect, and for the gentlemen from Wilczyca, congratulations for the idea and inviting Roman to the album. Grab this material without any hesitation, don't have any doubts!

Cancerfaust - Let the Earth Tremble (Godz ov War 2020)

Płyta, której nie zdążyłem zrecenzować w ubiegłym roku. Myślałem, że styczeń rozwali mnie najnowszą płytą Asphyx, a tu przyszła pocztą pierwsza pełna płyta Cancerfaust i zdaje się zażarcie bić z Niemcami o ten przywilej. Cancerfaust zapunktował już poprzednimi materiałami, ale tutaj, mam wrażenie, poszli jeszcze o krok do przodu i w tej chwili nie wiadomo, czego spodziewać się więcej, skoro jest tak dobrze. Ale do rzeczy. Płytę rozpoczyna mocarny, rzężący bas i faktycznie ziemia zaczyna drżeć! Potem jest już tylko lepiej. Zespół umiejscowił swój styl i brzmienie gdzieś między Vader, Deicide, a Dismember, a to mieszanka piorunująca. I nie ma co się oszukiwać, bo o sile tego albumu stanowią przede wszystkim gitary. Polski styl i charakter zmieszany z mroźną Szwecją i odległą Florydą.  Jest ciężko, brutalnie, ale i gdzieniegdzie melodią też zaleci. Płyta traktuje słuchacza niczym blender - tnie na pełnej, żeby zaraz zwolnić i silnymi ciosami przytłoczyć go do ziemi, zero wytchnienia. Od strony technicznej też jest bardzo dobrze, brzmienie jest tłuste i dzięki temu death metal w wydaniu Cancerfaust ma tak konkretną siłę rażenia. Co tu dużo mówić, ten zespół pnie się do góry po szczeblach podziemia i nie przebiera w środkach. Cały czas jest progres i na chwilę obecną "Let the Earth Tremble" to już świadectwo dojrzałości muzycznej i wyrobienia własnego stylu, świadomości, jak to ma wyglądać i dokąd zmierza. Powiem krótko, Cancerfaust to obecnie jedna z najlepszych ekip death metalowych na polskim podwórku. Jest to młody zespół, to prawda, ale w pełni na to zasłużył.

The album that I didn't have time to review last year. I thought that January would smash me with the latest Asphyx material, and here the first full Cancerfaust album came in the mail and seems to be fighting hard with the Germans for this privilege. Cancerfaust has already made an impression with the previous materials, but here I have a feeling that they went one step further and at the moment it is not known what to expect as it is so good. But to the point. The album starts with a powerful, rattling bass and the ground starts to tremble! After that, it only gets better. The band has placed their style and sound somewhere between Vader, Deicide, and Dismember, and it's an electrifying mix. And there is nothing to debate on, as the strength of this album is primarily the guitars. Polish style and character mixed with frosty Sweden and distant Florida. It is hard, brutal, but it will also serve some melody here and there. The album treats the listener like a blender - it cuts at full speed to immediately slow down and force you to the ground with strong blows, no respite. From the technical side it is also very good, the sound is massive and thanks to that, death metal perfomed by Cancerfaust has such an impact. What can I say, this band climbs the ranks of the underground and doesn't bother about anything. There is constant progress and at the moment "Let the Earth Tremble" is a testimony of musical maturity and developing one's own style, awareness of how it should look and where it is going. Let me put it briefly, Cancerfaust is currently one of the best death metal bands in the Polish underground. They are a young band, true, but they fully deserved it.

Ljosazabojstwa - Głoryja Śmierci (Godz ov War Productions 2020)

Po demie i dwóch EPkach doczekaliśmy się pełnego albumu od białoruskiej załogi z Ljosazabojstwa. Jak już niektórym z Was wiadomo, panowie parają się dość klimatyczną odmianą Death Metalu z jakby blackową atmosferą, w każdym razie jest to bardzo oryginalne i nie da się ich pomylić z nikim innym. Może nie miałem tego odczucia przy słuchania wcześniejszych materiałów, ale mam ochotę stwierdzić, że Ljosazabojstwa to taki Malokarpatan Death Metalu. Dzielą z tym zespołem tę samą atmosferę i swego rodzaju zakorzenienie w mrocznych opowieściach, otacza ich pewna charakterystyczna aura. Na "Głoryja Śmierci", poza czerpaniem inspiracji z death metalowej klasyki, pojawiają się jeszcze zagrywki typowe dla zespołów będących podwalinami dla ekstremalnego grania. Mam tu na myśli wczesny Running Wild, Slayera z czasów "Show No Mercy" czy Mercyful Fate. Czasem panowie puszczają oko do pewnych struktur o bardziej heavy/thrash metalowym zabarwieniu. Co więcej, są tu same rozbudowane kompozycje. Każda trwa średnio po dziesięć minut, co jak na oldschoolowy Death Metal jest sporą rzadkością. Jest to kolejna cecha wyróżniająca zespół i kolejna, którą mogą dzielić z Malokarpatan, chociażby w odniesieniu do ostatniej płyty Słowaków, mimo że grają w kompletnie innym stylu.

Przyznam, że przełożenie takich elementów na Death Metal stworzyło coś ciekawego w temacie, co ma potencjał i znacząco się wyróżnia, tworzy własną niszę. Zarówno płyta, jak i zespół godne uwagi, warto tego posłuchać!

After the demo and two EPs, we got a full-length album from the Belarusian crew from Ljosazabojstwa. As some of you already know, gentlemen are dealing with a rather atmospheric version of Death Metal with a kind of black metal oriented atmosphere, in any case it is very original and cannot be mistaken with anyone else. Maybe I did't have this feeling when listening to earlier materials, but I want to say that Ljosazabojstwa is, let's say, a Malokarpatan of Death Metal. They share the same atmosphere and some rooting in the dark stories, they are surrounded by a characteristic aura. On "Głoryja Śmierci", apart from taking inspiration from Death Metal classics, there are also typical elements of the bands that are the foundations of extreme playing. I mean early Running Wild, Slayer from "Show No Mercy" era or Mercyful Fate. Sometimes they wink at certain structures with a more heavy/thrash metal vibe. What's more, there are only very extensive compositions here. Each one lasts ten minutes on average, which is quite rare for oldschool Death Metal. This is another feature that distinguishes the band and yet another that they can share with Malokarpatan, mostly in relation to the last album of Slovaks, although they play in a completely different style.

I admit that transfering such elements into Death Metal has created something interesting in the subject, which has potential and stands out significantly, creates its own niche. The album and the band are worth checking out!

Barbaric Horde - Axe of Superior Savagery (Godz ov War Productions 2020)

Kozioł w masce przeciwgazowej wpisany w logo oraz takowe na twarzach muzyków, kaptury i pasy z nabojami, adnotacja "Recorded at the goat dungeon 2019"... Powiało kultem Ross Bay i to bez dwóch zdań! I nie inaczej jest w warstwie muzycznej. Debiutancki pełniak duetu Barbaric Horde "Axe of Superior Savagery", to naturalna kontynuacja black/death metalowych wyziewów zapoczątkowanych niegdyś przez Blasphemy i Beherit, kontynuowanych przez Conqueror, Black Witchery i Proclamation, a kultywowanych obecnie przez chociażby Bestial Raids, Revenge czy Death Worship. To to samo opętańcze granie bez krzty wytchnienia. Każdy z utworów na płycie to bestialska kanonada gitar i perkusji, złowieszczego wokalu, tylko na sekundy zwalniająca w tym piekielnym transie. Niecałe pół godziny istnego bluźnierstwa, szaleństwa, diabła i czego tylko! Może brak tu urozmaiceń, które nie zlewałyby ze sobą zamieszczonych tu utworów, ale tak to ma działać. Tu nie ma kompromisów, wydumanych rozwiązań, jest tylko prostota i oldschool niemal do granic możliwości. Generalnie, wtajemniczeni wiedzą, o co chodzi. Jeżeli wspomniane zespoły nie są wam obce i takie grańsko Wam pasuje, to debiutancki krążek Barbaric Horde wejdzie Wam bez popity, gwarantuję. Klasa w temacie! Rzekłem!

Putrid - Antichrist Above (Godz Ov War Productions 2020)

Czas na trochę smoły wprost z peruwiańskiego piekła! A taką serwuje nam wraz ze swoją nową płytą Putrid. "Antichrist Above" to bluźniercza wypadkowa aż czterech stylów grania - Black, Death, War, a nawet Thrash Metalu. To dziesięć hymnów czystego szaleństwa, bez melodii i upiększania. Totalny chaos i zniszczenie, brutalne, agresywne granie od pierwszej do ostatniej minuty. Na płycie słychać bardzo wiele inspiracji dobrze znanymi już klasykami w postaci Angelcorpse, Impiety, Krisiun, Proclamation, Sarcofago czy Bestial Warlust. Także znając te nazwy możecie się już domyślić, czego spodziewać się po "Antichrist Above". Mimo tylu naleciałości, to prosty i szczery Metal w południowoamerykańskim stylu, pomylić tego klimatu nie da się z niczym innym. Tamtejszy Metal ma już swoje własne okrzepłe i niemal niepodrabiane brzmienie.

"Antichrist Above" nie jest płytą, którą można rozkładać na czynniki pierwsze i dopatrywać się nie wiadomo jakiej złożoności wpływów czy finezji kompozycji. To Metal w swojej pierwotnej, organicznej postaci, mówiąc najprościej - czysty oldschool i hołd dla starych bogów. Taki jest właśnie Putrid i taką muzykę grają, ni mniej, ni więcej, taki swoisty "fuck off" dla wszelkich trendów i przesadnie wymuskanych produkcji. Dla każdego fana właśnie takiego oblicza metalowego grania ta płyta będzie strzałem w dziesiątkę. Może po czasie trąci nieco monotonią, ale jej klimat i brzmienie totalnie to rekompensują. Jest tu czego posłuchać i nawet do czego wracać. Polecam!

Time for some tar straight from Peruvian hell! And it's served by Putrid and their latest album. "Antichrist Above" is a blasphemous result of four styles of playing - Black, Death, War and even Thrash Metal. These are ten hymns of pure madness, without melody and embellishment. Total chaos and destruction, brutal aggressive stuff from the first to the last minute. On the album you can hear a lot of inspiration from well-known classics in the form of Angelcorpse, Impiety, Krisiun, Proclamation, Sarcofago or Bestial Warlust. Also, knowing these names, you can already guess what to expect from "Antichrist Above". Despite so many influences, it's simple and honest South American style Metal, you can't confuse this climate with anything else. This kind of Metal already has its own solid sound that can't be copied easily.
"Antichrist Above" is not a record that can't be discussed over and over again searching for uncountable complexity of influences or finesse of its compositions. It's Metal in its original, organic form, simply put - clean oldschool and a tribute to the old gods. That's what Putrid is like and such music they play, no more, no less, it's a kind of "fuck off" to all trends and excessively polished production. For every fan of such face of metal this album will hit the spot. Maybe after a while it introduces a bit of monotony, but its climate and sound completely compensate it. There is something to listen to and even something to come back to. Totally recommend!

Rotting Kingdom - A Deeper Shade of Sorrow (Godz Ov War Productions 2020)

Po trzech latach przerwy i EPce, Rotting Kingdom powraca, serwując nam swój pierwszy pełny album. I muszę otwarcie powiedzieć, że przeskoczył ich pierwszy materiał o głowę, a było to już dzieło bardzo dobre. Zespół już wie, jaką drogą chce kroczyć i szlifuje tu swój unikalny styl, to kawał dojrzałej i świadomej muzyki. 

To, co znajdziecie na "A Deeper Shade of Sorrow" to oryginalna wypadkowa starego Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Cemetary, Anathemy, Amorphis z czasów "Tales from the Thousand Lakes" oraz Tribulation z okresu "The Formulas of Death". Mieszają się tu cechy charakterystyczne dla brytyjskiej i szwedzkiej sceny. Zatem mamy tu ciekawe melodie, odrobinę przebojowości, growl w warstwie wokalnej, sporo ciężaru (więcej niż na EPce), ale i czasem nastrojowy, gotycki klimat, który za moment ustępuje konkretnemu łojeniu. Jest to bogaty, wielowarstwowy album, który nie daje się zaszufladkować i ucieka od schematów. Ta płyta momentalnie odkrywa przed słuchaczem całą paletę swych mrocznych barw, ale mimo to nie jest krążkiem na jeden czy parę odsłuchów, a na znacznie więcej. Dzieje się tu mnóstwo ciekawych rzeczy, które mają zadatki na ciągłe odkrywanie ich przez słuchacza i samo to świadczy już mocno o jakości "A Deeper Shade of Sorrow". Panowie z Rotting Kingdom nagrali album, który nie jest ani jednoznacznie doom, ani death metalowy, nie jest też do końca okrzepłą już klasyczną hybrydą obu tych gatunków. Moim zdaniem to coś znacznie więcej. Naprawdę warto się z tą płytą zapoznać i zostać przy niej na dłużej.

And I must say openly that their first material was already a very good work, but this one beats it. The band already knows which way it wants to go and forges its unique style, here we have a piece of mature and conscious music. 

What you will find on "A Deeper Shade of Sorrow" is the original mixture of old Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Cemetary, Anathema, Amorphis from the time of "Tales from the Thousand Lakes" and Tribulation from the period of "The Formulas of Death". Characteristic features of the British and Swedish scene are being joined here. So here we have interesting melodies, a bit of hit stuff, growl in the vocal layer, a lot of heaviness (more than on EP), but also sometimes a moody, gothic atmosphere, which in a moment transforms into fast fierce parts. It is a rich, multi-layered album that cannot be put into one genre and escapes the possible schemes. This album immediately reveals the entire palette of its dark colors to the listener, but it is not a record for one or several listenings, but for much more. There are a lot of interesting things happening here that can be constantly discovered by the listener and this only strongly testifies the quality of "A Deeper Shade of Sorrow". The gentlemen from Rotting Kingdom recorded an album that is neither unequivocally doom, nor death metal, nor is it a solid classic hybrid of both genres. In my opinion, it is much more than that. It's really worth checking this material and staying with it for some serious amount of time.

Odraza - Rzeczom (Godz ov War Productions 2020)

Po sześciu latach powraca z kolejnym albumem Odraza. Nadal odrażająca, brudna, bezczelna, nieschematyczna i jeszcze lepsza niż na debiucie, a przede wszystkim dojrzalsza. "Rzeczom" to już nie tylko Black Metal. Poza blastami i szaleństwem podobnym do tego, jakie rozpętuje na swoich płytach na przykład Infernal War lub Marduk (chociażby następujący po jakby ambientowym wstępie "Schadenfreude" czy "Bempo"), mamy tu przytupankę z akordeonem, trochę romantyzmu, sporo klimatu, nastroju i posępności, ale i na melodyjność znalazło się tu miejsce - "Ja Nie Stąd". Są tu również echa takich zespołów jak szwedzki Shining czy nawet francuskie Peste Noire. Przez to wszystko płyta może do najłatwiejszych w odbiorze nie należy, ale w tym jest jej urok. Jest nieokrzesana, magiczna w tej swojej wulgarności, a zarazem bardzo kompleksowa, o niebagatelnym ładunku emocji. Może i negatywnych, ale wciąż emanujących niesamowitą energią, która wyłuskuje ze słuchacza cały wkurw, jaki może w nim w danym momencie drzemać i wchłania go w swą muzyczną otchłań. Jest niczym czyściec. "Rzeczom" nie jest też płytą na jeden, dwa odsłuchy. To nie jest coś, co jednym uchem wpada, a drugim wypada. To album, który będzie można w pełni poznać oraz rozgryźć dopiero po czasie - i jest to kolejny jego atut oraz dowód oryginalności i wyjątkowości.

Dobrze, że zespół nie poprzestał na jednym krążku i kontynuuje swą muzyczną krucjatę, wszczepiając odrazę w naszą scenę black metalową. Płytę z pewnością wymieni się na koniec roku w niejednym zestawieniu, wyróżniona w jakiś sposób będzie na pewno. Ja o niej nie zapomnę. "Rzeczy" przeskoczyło "Esperalem Tkane" i to już jest konkretna rekomendacja!

After six years, Odraza returns with another album. Still disgusting, dirty, not schematic, insolent and even better than on the debut, and above all more mature. "Rzeczom" is not just Black Metal. In addition to blasts and madness similar to the one being unleashed on albums of, for example, Infernal War or Marduk (starting with an ambient introduction "Schadenfreude" or "Bempo"), we have here a touch of accordion, a bit of romanticism, a lot of atmosphere, mood and gloom, but there is also a place for melodies - "Ja Nie Stąd". There are also echoes of such bands as Swedish Shining or even French Peste Noire. Because of all this, the album may not be the easiest to get on with, but here lies its charm. It is rough, magical in its vulgarity, and at the same time very comprehensive, with a considerable load of emotions. Maybe negative, but still emanating with amazing energy, which squeezes out of the listener all the anger that he hides and absorbs it into its musical abyss. It is like purgatory. "Rzeczom" is also not a record for one or two listening sessions. This is not something that leaves you indifferent without a will to return to it. It is an album that you will be able to fully explore and figure out only after some time and this is another of its advantages and proof of originality and uniqueness.

It's good that the band did not stop after one material and continues its musical crusade, implanting disgust into Polish black metal scene. The record will certainly be mentioned at the end of the year in more than one year-summing-up, it will be honored in some way for sure. I will not forget about it myself. "Rzeczom" overhelmed "Esperalem Tkane" and this is a strong recommendation!
