Cultum Interitum - Veneration of The New Dawn (Godz ov War Productions 2021)

To już drugi album Cultum Interitum w barwach Godz ov War i drugi pełniak zespołu. Grupa tworzy jedną z najbardziej dusznych i mrocznych odmian black/death metalu, jaką dane mi było słyszeć. "Veneration of the New Dawn" tylko jeszcze bardziej pogłębia muzykę zespołu w tej charakterystycznej aurze. Jest bardzo niepokojąca, brzmi jakby muzyka wydobywała się z jakieś jaskini, jamy czy studni sięgającej samego Hadesu. Płyta sprawia też wrażenie nagranej na setkę, jakby zespół po prostu wszedł do studia i w jednej sali odegrał całość materiału znajdującego się na krążku jakościowo wypadając przy tym bardzo dobrze. Zaintrygowała mnie też spójność elementów graficznych z muzyką Cultum Interitum. Jakbym chciał przedstawić obrazem, to co zespół przedstawia na "Veneration of a New Dawn", to widziałbym właśnie taki styl i takie obrazy - śmierć, bluźnierstwo, zagłada, wszystko w szarych i czarnych kolorach. Jeżeli lubicie takie zespoły jak Sortilegia, Doombringer, Ritual Death, to Cultum Interitum z pewnością trafi w wasz gust. To sztuka bezkompromisowa, która nie szuka poklasku i szerszej publiki, robią swoje od początku do końca przenosząc nas w najgłębsze otchłanie piekła i wir apokalipsy. To metal dla najtwardszych zawodników.

This is Cultum Interitum's second album for Godz ov War and the band's second full-length album in general. The group creates one of the stuffiest and darkest types of black/death metal I've ever heard. "Veneration of the New Dawn" only deepens the band's music in this characteristic aura even more. It is very disturbing, it sounds as if the music is coming from some cave, cavity or well reaching Hades itself. The album also gives the impression of being recorded live, as if the band just entered the studio and in one room played all the material on the disc in one go, still doing it very well in a proper quality. I was also intrigued by the consistency of the graphic elements with the music of Cultum Interitum. If I wanted to present with a picture, what the band presents on "Veneration of a New Dawn", then I would see such a style and such images - death, blasphemy, annihilation, all in gray and black colours. If you like bands such as Sortilegia, Doombringer, Ritual Death, then Cultum Interitum will surely appeal to you. It is an uncompromising art that doesn't seek applause and the wider audience, it does its job from beginning to end, taking us to the deepest abyss of hell and the vortex of the apocalypse. It's metal for the toughest players.

Solium - Urwerk (Old Temple 2020)

Po dłuższym czasie mamy kolejny materiał od Solium i tym razem EPkę. Na tym materiale poza głównodowodzącym projektem Motor Immobillis (znany ze swojego głównego zespołu, jakim jest Throneum) udzielili się Diabolizer (perkusja i teksty) oraz Bloodwhip (miksy i mastering), czyli muzycy znani z niejednego zacnego projektu naszej sceny podziemnej.

Jak na Solium przystało, jest ciężko, smoliście i oldschoolowo ponad miarę. Płyta brzmi niemal jak nagrywana na setkę, co tylko dodaje jej uroku i tego piwnicznego charakteru. Słuchać tu wyraźnie echa np. Christ Agony z czasów demówek czy Samael z okresu "Worship Him" i również kaset demo. Materiał w całości utrzymany jest w wolnych tempach i dominującym, rzężącym dźwiękiem basu. I, mówiąc szczerze, brzmi właśnie bardzo demówkowo. Niemniej w tym właśnie jest cały piekielny urok i metoda "Urwerk". Niemal dwadzieścia minut obskurnego, zatęchłego materiału o posępnej, dusznej atmosferze. Zadowolony jestem z faktu, że jest to EPka. Tego typu granie, przynajmniej w moim odbiorze, jest mniej przystępne w dłuższej formie, no chyba że byłoby tu nieco więcej różnorodności. Ale to takie tam moje fanaberie. Po prostu nie każdą dawkę smoły trawię tak samo, a często dłuższe dzieło w tej estetyce potrafi mnie zanudzić lub po prostu zmęczyć. Solium wyszło tu obronną ręką i każdemu fanowi oldschoolu mogę ten materiał z czystym sumieniem polecić.

After a long time we have another material from Solium and this time it is an EP. On this one, besides the commander-in-chief Motor Immobillis (known for his main band, Throneum), there is also Diabolizer (drums and lyrics) and Bloodwhip (mixes and mastering) - musicians known from many worthy projects of our underground scene.

As befits Solium, it is heavy, dense and oldschool beyond measure. The album sounds almost like recorded live in the studio, which only adds it charm and that basement character. Here you can hear clearly echoes of, for example, Christ Agony from the time of demos or Samael from the period of "Worship Him" ​​and also their demo tapes. The whole material is kept in slow tempos and the dominating, croaking bass sound. And to be honest, its sound is very demo-like. Nevertheless, this is how the charm of "Urwerk" works, there is a method in it. Almost twenty minutes of dingy, musty material with a bleak, stuffy atmosphere. I am pleased with the fact that this is an EP. This type of stuff, at least in my view, is less accessible in a longer form, unless there was more variety here. But these are my frills. I just don't digest every dose of tar the same way, and often a longer work in this aesthetics can bore me or just tire me out. Solium came out unscathed and I can recommend this material with a clear conscience to any oldschool fan.

Nekkrofukk - Antikkrist Venomous Uteroplacental Injekktor Of Goat Semen & Mephistophallus Thermonukklear Messiah Violation (Putrid Cult 2019)

Nekkrofukk to zespół, który już jakiś czas temu wyrobił sobie w podziemiu nie lada renomę i reprezentuje wszystko to, czym jest muzyka metalowa w swoim najbardziej surowym, obskurnym i obrazoburczym obliczu. Może nie jest to nic nowego, ale jest to bardzo prawdziwe i wiarygodne w swym wyrazie, zarówno muzycznie, jak i wizualnie. Na tym właśnie polega fenomen Nekkrofukk. Ta szczerość, bezkompromisowość i wyczucie.
Trzeci album tylko ten stan rzeczy potwierdza. Brzmienie i swój własny charakterystyczny wizerunek ma już twór Lorda K wyrobiony. To te same, konsekwentne, bluźniercze, smoliste wyziewy cuchnące na kilometr siarką i spalenizną, tylko brzmiące jeszcze gęściej i wyraziściej niż na poprzednich materiałach, a wokale zdają się być bardziej bestialskie niż kiedykolwiek. Ciężar tego materiału niemal wgniata w glebę. Swoje robi też siedzący za perkusją Diabolizer. Nadal jest to materiał nienaruszający zbytnio bariery 30 minut, ale tu więcej nie trzeba. W takiej skondensowanej formule Nekkrofukk wypada najlepiej. Uderza konkretnie, z przytupem, i znika, zmuszając do wciśnięcia "play" ponownie. Żeby tradycji stało się zadość, z okładki spogląda na nas kolejna inkarnacja kozła, jaki od zawsze zdobi każde wydawnictwo zespołu. Teraz jest tylko uzbrojony w nieśmiertelną w tej estetyce maskę przeciwgazową. No kult, hehe! Tak jak zawsze staram się tego słowa nie nadużywać, tak w przypadku Nekkrofukk po prostu nie da się inaczej. Cóż tu więcej mówić, metal to the bone!

Nekkrofukk is a band that has already gained a huge reputation in the underground and represents everything that metal music is in its most raw, obscure and blasphemous version. It may not be anything new, but it is very true and honest in its expression, both musically and visually. This is what the Nekkrofukk phenomenon is all about. This sincerity, uncompromising attitude and feeling of what it all should be like.
The third album only confirms this. The sound and characteristic image of Lord K's creation have already been established. These are the same, consistent, blasphemous, tarry fumes with a strong stench of sulfur, just sounding even more dense and expressive than on previous materials, and the vocals seem to be more bestial than ever. The heaviness of this material almost chops you off your feet. Diabolizer sitting behind the drums also does his job. It is still material that does not break that much the 30-minute barrier, but you don't need more here. In this condensed formula, Nekkrofukk performs their best. It hits you hard and clean, and disappears, forcing to press "play" again. To fulfill the tradition, another incarnation of the goat looks at us from the cover, the image that has always adorned each band's release. Now it is only armed with a gas mask - so immortal in this aesthetics. Pure cult, haha! As always, I try not to overuse this word, but in the case of Nekkrofukk it just can't be done otherwise. What can I say, metal to the bone!
