Zatem koniec tych wstępów i tłumaczeń, do rzeczy.
Podbija to zwłaszcza tendencja Narrenwind do średnich i wolnych temp. Nawet te okazyjne klawisze, ambientowe naleciałości w stylu Burzum słyszalne w "Wietrze Głupców" dorzucone w taką estetykę to stosunkowo ciekawy zabieg i bardzo udany. No i teksty utworów.

English translation:
Narrenwind's debut is an album that I missed somewhere in the sheer volume of other materials; that I wanted to review since its release, but it hasn't happened yet. I want to make up for it now, the more that time is favorable. Finally, in two months, the next, third album by Evil and Klimohr will be out. So let's end these introductions and so on, to the point now.
What needs to be emphasized at the beginning is the fact that Narrenwind is a creature that does not respect the patterns, trends and tendencies in playing, especially within Black Metal. It goes his own path. It doesn't matter if it appeals to a hundred or several thousand people. Of course, there is a lot of later Bathory influences here. Sometimes you can recognize certain stuff, such as the one in the opening "Wydłużam Cień Boga Ciemności" or "Przemocą Wepchnięci w Istnienie", and this unique epicness and atmosphere. This is even emphasized more by Narrenwind's tendency to medium and slow tempos. Despite this, the band is thoroughly original, at least in my opinion. The composition, sound, aura of pensiveness and reflection around this music... Even these occasional keyboards, Burzum-like ambient influences heard in "Wiatr Głupców" added to such aesthetics are a relatively interesting procedure that turns out great. I have the impression that Narrenwind cannot be mistaken for any other band. They use elements from old times combining them with their own personal vision. An addition to this are Klimohr's vocals, which are also relatively recognizable. "Mojej Bolesnej Śnię Dobrą Śmierć" is a record that flows, lives its own life and spins its story slowly. It's like a good book. At first, an engaging, exciting prologue, then building a climate, drawing the listeners attention, then getting into the art's world, and finally a nostalgic epilogue in the form of melancholic "Nic". And the lyrics... As usual, they are not the most important part of work for me, but here they work equally with the music and are a very important element of the whole, adding a lot to the atmosphere of the album. A piece of truly phenomenal art that cannot go unnoticed or unappreciated. Such records create the history of the scene, you have to listen to them, know and remember them, period!

Tribulation - Down Below (Century Media 2018)
Rok temu pojawił się czwarty album w dorobku Tribulation - "Down Below". I jak sobie Szwedzi na nim poczynają? Odpowiedź jest tu dosyć
prosta i myślę, że większość osób podzieli moją opinię. "Down Below"
jest naturalną kontynuacją "The Children of the Night", pogłębieniem
obranej wtedy formuły i drugim krokiem w jej wnętrze. Teraz tak - czy to dobrze, czy źle? Cóż, tutaj można się spierać. Z jednej strony mamy konsekwencję i
klasycznymi elementami gotyckiego grania, zarówno metalowej i rockowej formy.
kilka naprawdę zapadających w pamięć momentów - "The Lament", "Nightbound",
"Lacrimosa" oraz oryginalny, majestatyczny "The World". Owe
tu bardziej zauważalnego kroku (chociaż "The World" teoretycznie takowym jest) naprzód, jakiegoś konkretnego zaskoczenia. Płytę można śmiało
potraktować jako drugą część "The Children of the Night" (brzmienie i
"Down Below".
"The Children of the Night".
Tymczasem ogromnie ten album polecam!

English translation:
A year ago, the fourth album in Tribulation's discography was released - "Down Below". And how did the Swedes manage to accomplish their goal? The answer here is quite simple and I think that most people will share my opinion. "Down Below" is a natural continuation of "The Children of the Night", a deepening of the formula chosen at the time and a second step into its interior. Now, is it good or bad? Well, here you can argue. On one hand, we have consistency and polishing the style, which is an advantage. We have at least four really exciting tracks. I must admit that I am happy with the path they have chosen. Their very original Death Metal from the first album could, despite the enormous potential, disappear somewhere after a while, and so they moved in an even more unusual, totally their own direction. They combined the best elements of the so-called Dark Metal and the remnants of their Death Metal beginnings (this is primarily about the vocals without which it would not be the same), sprinkling the whole with classic elements of gothic stuff, in its both metal and rock form. In a rich and bold manner, that can't be denied (although sometimes they balance on the verge of kitsch, but eventually they come out unscathed). It is important that the album is not worse than its predecessor, it is equally good, keeps the level and serves some really memorable moments - "The Lament", "Nightbound", "Lacrimosa" and the original, majestic "The World". These compositions are already permanently inscribed in the Tribulation setlist and are played at most concerts. The album's atmosphere also makes a lot here - dark, disturbing, referring in its aesthetics to the old black and white horrors with "Nosferatu" at the forefront.
The other side of the coin is the fact that there may potentially be a more noticeable step forward (although "The World" theoretically is), some specific surprise. The album can be safely treated as the second part of "The Children of the Night" (the sound and construction of the songs are almost identical), which for many recipients may mean stagnation, lack of idea, repetition. However, I think that the band has taken the right step here and recorded an album that strengthened their musical "I", defined the sound. It is like the end of the gradual stylistic changes that the band underwent on their previous albums. I believe that it is in this context that it should be considered. The potential disadvantage then becomes the "Down Below" advantage.
I started to pay attention to Tribulation at the debut level, I really liked it after the third album, but it was along with the material discussed here and seeing the band live that made me become their huge fan. No one plays like them, the group is one-of-a-kind, has its own original style and the ability to create a unique atmosphere. "Down Below" can be easily their showcase and work on a par with their groundbreaking "The Children of the Night". I am waiting for their next material and I will not even object if it still stays in the same pattern, because it works really well. Nevertheless, I am counting on another interesting step forward. In the meantime, I highly recommend this album!

Stormwitch - Bound to the Witch (Massacre Records 2018)
"Bound to the Witch" to 11 pełny album tego niemieckiego zespołu i... Wciąż mocny i imponujący, mimo upływu lat. Jako bonus zostały tu dodane 3 utwory z 3 pierwszych płyt grupy, nagrane ponownie na tę okazję: "Priest of Evil", "Rats in the Attic" oraz "Stronger than Heaven".
Polecam!
English version:
The album that should take every Heavy Metal fan by force! A beautiful example of how, in the era of more extreme stuff, you can create - within the genre's classics - still fresh and thrilling material. It's almost the same form that the band had on such albums as "Stronger than Heaven" or "Eye of the Storm". Stormwitch has never been very popular or well known to everyone. Nevertheless, they left an imprint on the bands involved in either Heavy or Power Metal in the 90s and after. The best example is Hammerfall, or maybe even Gamma Ray.
"Bound to the Witch" is the 11th full-length album by this German band and ... It's something phenomenal! After 38 years of existence, with such a baggage of composed music, so many implemented ideas, and only one member of the original line-up in the ranks (vocalist Andy Muck), to record such an album you need to have this sort of "spark"! On "Bound to the Witch" we have the essence of their style, i.e. traditional Heavy Metal combined with melody and a bit fantasy aesthetics. Maybe it is now closer to Power Metal (since "Stronger than Heaven" they have begun to move in this direction) than the feisty German Heavy from the time of the first few albums, but it's still Stormwitch in all its glory, full of creative inspiration and just as thrilling as then. The album is filled with catchy riffs, equally catchy choruses, melodic solos, without a lack of desired heaviness. At the top of this pyramid are Andy's vocals. Still strong and impressive, despite the passage of years. Songs that deserve special attention here are the opening "Songs of Steel", followed by "Odin's Ravens" (proud representant of the album!), "Arya" (yes, the heroine of the song is none else than Arya Stark, one of the most important characters of the saga "The Song of Ice and Fire") and "Ancient Times". I recommend checking these songs as a foretaste of the whole record. I think that those who are susceptible to such a style will be completely hooked. As a bonus, 3 songs from the first 3 albums of the group were added, recorded again for this occasion: "Priest of Evil", "Rats in the Attic" and "Stronger than Heaven". They were recorded in the current style of the band, without original dirt and a slight dose of ominousness. Some may whine that this is not the same and just a waste of time. Well, personally, I really like what they did with them here.
What can I say, the album has gripped me (maybe that's why I'm not very objective, hehe). I had almost the same incredibly positive feelings when once discovering the albums "Legacy of Kings" by Hammerfall or Pictures' "Eternal Dark". A great record by veterans of the scene who haven't said the last word yet! Totally recommended!

Hammerfall - Legacy of Kings: 20-Year Anniversary Edition (Nuclear Blast 2018)
English version:
Released in 1998, the second, full-length Hammerfall album is one of the records that will stay with me for til death, or even longer. An album that I will never get bored with, which I will never stop listening to. My personal classic, which is associated with a lot of memories and nostalgia. "Legacy of Kings" was one of the first three Metal albums, which I bought while I was still a kid, and Hammerfall was the first band I discovered myself. I remember like it was today (and in reality 15-16 years ago), how intriguing its cover was, which stands out from the others at the local music stand exhibition. It caught my eye so much that I bought the record without hesitation (it was a license issue of our Metal Mind). It was a hit! Already the first sounds of the opening "Heading the Call" took me over for good, and then I absorbed the whole album. In December last year, Nuclear Blast released a special edition for the 20th anniversary of the release of the album. There was no option that I would not reach for it. This edition is a pretext to recall this Heavy Metal monument, bring back some memories and stories associated with it, tell about the album, which appeared like thunder at a time when hardly anyone played like that anymore.
"Legacy of Kings" is the older brother of the debut album "Glory to the Brave" - a record that made Hammerfall so famous and took the band out on the march to the largest European Metal music scenes. The album is a bit less raw than its predecessor, sounds much better, more powerful, cleaner and brings another portion of great, powerful tunes, outstanding riffs and excellent vocals of Joacim Cans. Patrik Rafling also did a great job. It is rarely possible to listen to such a great work of percussion in a classic Heavy Metal, one so full of energy and sense.
The compositions for "Legacy of Kings" are the work of, above all, Oscar Dronjak, Joakim Cans and ... Jesper Stromblad! In Flames guitarist, he was already in practice no longer in the band, but he was still helping with the creation of this material before he made the final decision to devote all his attention to the mentioned In Flames. The album also includes a composition created by Andy Muck and Martin Albrecht of Stormwitch - "At the End of the Rainbow" (originally with an unfinished title "At the End of?"). Andy called Oscar once, telling him that he had a composition for them that would suit their work. It was a huge ennoblement, the more that Stormwitch was one of the most significant inspirations for Hammerfall. The band decided to pay homage to one more group important for them, by adding a cover of "Back to Back" by Pretty Maids. They wanted to introduce this classic band to a younger group of fans and recall their debut "Red Hot & Heavy".
The production of the album, as it was with "Glory to the Brave", was conducted by Fredrik Nordstrom (Studio Fredman, Gothenburg). Through his work and devotion, he contributed a lot to building the characteristic Hammerfall sound. On "Legacy of Kings" he also played the piano on the "Fallen One" ballad. Just like the debut was created in a hurry (the group had only 17 days in the studio to complete the whole process of recording, mixing and mastering), in the case of "Legacy of Kings" they had whole 2 months - they could focus on everything. And the effect can be heard!
During the recording of the album also such well-performed covers were made - Rainbow's "Man on the Silver Mountain", "Eternal Dark" by Picture and "I Want Out" by Helloween (with guest participation by Kai Hansen). I have always had great respect in this matter towards Hammerfall. They could play other bands stuff in such a way that they totally matched their repertoire, and at the same time they were very faithful to the originals, it's not an easy art to do so.
"Legacy of Kings" turned out to be even more successful than "Glory to the Brave" and resulted in tours alongside such groups like Gamma Ray, Jag Panzer, Raven and Tank, and gave them the first headlining tour with Primal Fear, Labirynth and Pegazus as support .
Accept, the previously mentioned Stormwitch or Picture, Helloween, Warlord, Heavy Load, Judas Priest - the echoes of all these bands can be heard in Hammerfall's music, in their style and aesthetics, all of which they worshiped at that time and which they honor to this day. Record discussed here is their opus magnum, and personally one of my favorite albums of all time. It is a symbol of the path that the band once chose and which they did not left!
Below you can see the mentioned anniversary edition of "Legacy of Kings". It consist of two CD's with an original album, covers and live material, and a DVD with an exclusive interview with the line-up responsible for creating the album, and selected recordings from the video "The First Crusade" and "Templar Renegade Crusades". A thick booklet with memories, lots of photos and memorabilia, and song lyrics is also added here. Absolute must for the fans!
Jespera Stromblada! Gitarzysta In Flames był już w praktyce poza zespołem, lecz wciąż jeszcze pomagał przy powstawaniu tego materiału zanim podjął ostateczną decyzję o poświęceniu całej swojej uwagi wspomnianemu In Flames. Na albumie znalazła się również kompozycja stworzona przez Andiego Mucka oraz Martina Albrechta ze Stormwitch - "At the End of the Rainbow" (pierwotnie z niedokończonym tytułem "At the End of?"). Zespół postanowił oddać też hołd innej ważnej dla nich grupie, dodając do płyty cover "Back to Back" Pretty Maids.
Poniżej możecie zobaczyć wspomniane rocznicowe wydanie "Legacy of Kings".

Morgal - Morgal EP (Werewolf Records 2018)
I tę kompaktową wersję pragnę wam tu przybliżyć. In the Sign of Evil". W ostatnim kawałku, "Warcry of the Vampire", słychać nawet elementy Tormentor z "Anno Domini", posłuchajcie sami, to zobaczycie do czego, a raczej do jakiego utworu tu nawiązuję.

English version:
Morgal is a young Finnish band that has already had four years of experience on the local scene. This trio in some circles gets a group of supporters as quickly as the German Cruel Force once. And there is no surprise, the guys are making their way like a roller with their energetic and inspired, blasphemous Black / Thrash Metal. They already have a few releases issued, one split with Exitius, but all in a very low amount, up to 50-150 pieces. Only getting along with Werwolf and his Werewolf Records gave them the release of a 4-track EP in a proper edition and professional publishing on both vinyl and CD. And this compact version I want to present here. There are four compositions embedded here, as you might expect, in an old Black Metal school, beefed up with Thrash motility and strong inspiration from Venom, Mercyful Fate and early Bathory, sometimes Sodom from "In the Sign of Evil". In the last song, "Warcry of the Vampire", you can even hear the elements of Tormentor from "Anno Domini", listen to it yourselves, then you will see to what, or rather to what song here I refer. In general, it is a great piece of playing in its aesthetics and certainly standing out from the similar stuff. there is this primeval pasiion in this stuff and the desire to play that the aforementioned bands once had, that makes Morgal deserve more than a moment's attention.

Automb- Esoterica (Satanath Records, Final Gate Records 2018/ Heritage Recordings 2019)
"Esoterica" to pierwszy w dorobku Automb długograj. Z kolei na takim "The Forest" odzywają się momentami echa Emperor z czasów "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk". No jest tu czego posłuchać i z aprobatą pokiwać głową. Jest to materiał niezawodny, bogaty w dobre pomysły, a przede wszystkim zawierający sporo świeżości. Chciałbym jeszcze na koniec zwrócić uwagę na wokal Danielle. Jestem tu pełen podziwu i szacunku.
I kto ją wydaje? Ano nasze Heritage Recordings!
Płytę polecam wszystkim i każdemu z osobna. To świetny, przepełniony trafionymi pomysłami album, który stworzyły osoby z niezaprzeczalną pasją do grania i wykonywanej sztuki!

English version:
After a long break, the topic of new releases comes back. Automb is a young band from the USA, which combines Black and Death Metal adding a pinch of Pagan aesthetics to this mix. I admit that this does not happen so often. Anyway, Automb sounds quite original to me and I do not hide that they made a little impression on me with their debut album.
With the album "Esoterica" I had the opportunity to meet almost six months after its premiere. I regret that it did not happen earlier, but often you are not able to be up to date with everything. Well, as usual, I make up and share with you the best stuff I managed to find lately. Such is undoubtedly the hero of this review. "Esoterica" is the first longplay in Automb's career. The first and already incredibly promising. Danielle Evans (vocals, bass, keyboards) / Serge Streltsov (guitar) duet supported by Morbid Angel's drummer Scott Fuller, serves us a mix of Black and Death Metal art in the style of which elements we can find in Dissection, Watain, Morbid Angel or Belphegor. Added to this are the elements of Pagan stuff in the vein of the Ukrainian Drudkh which are suspended in the background. All in all, Paganism and occultism are the main themes of the lyrics on "Esoterica". The compositions have a very strong rhythm section (Scott is a real beast behind drums), slashing riffs, most of the tracks moves forward without giving the listener a moment to rest. Nevertheless, there is also a lot of emphasis here on building a lofty, mysterious or ominous, ritual-like atmosphere, and Serge has the opportunity to shine a bit with his guitar craft. Examples of songs in which all that I mentioned is fully revealed is "Horned God", "Mourned" or "Blood Moon". In turn on such one like "The Forest" we can hear an echo of Emperor from the times of "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk". Well, there is a lot to listen to and to nod a head with approval. It is a reliable material, rich in good ideas and, above all, a lot of freshness. I would like to finally pay attention to Danielle's vocal. I am full of admiration and respect here. It is almost a classic growl, powerful, strong, but with a lot of individual character. There was no situation in which I would say to myself "ah, I have heard the same here, here and there". So Danielle, huge respect!
I'm glad that this short review appears when the vinyl version of this album has its premiere. And who released it? Well, Heritage Recordings from my country- Poland! And here I send a lot of thanks to Tomek, that he gave "Esoterica" a chance and released it. I do not think anyone would do it better. Anyway, you can see below how the splatter version presents.
I recommend the record to each and everyone of you. It's a great album filled with ideas that was created by people with an undeniable passion for playing and performing their art!

Blind Guardian- Nightfall In Middle-Earth (Virgin 1998/ Nuclear Blast 2018)
"Nightfall In Middle-Earth" to pierwszy koncept album w dorobku Blind Guardian, a po "Imaginations From the Other Side" najbardziej kompleksowy i bogaty jaki udało im się nagrać (przynajmniej moim zdaniem).
Album powstawał zarówno przed wejściem zespołu do studia, jak i w trakcie nagrań, prace trwały niemal do ostatniej możliwej do wykorzystania chwili. Nie zapominajmy również o presji jaką zostawił poprzedni album- "Imaginations From the Other Side".
Mamy tu takie klasyki jak "Into the Storm", "Mirror Mirror", "Nightfall", czy niesamowicie nastrojowy i emocjonalny "Blood Tears". Mamy zatem do czynienia z dziełem, mówiąc szczerze, ponadczasowym i wyróżniającym się w historii muzyki Metalowej, a i sceny lat 90-tych.

Usurper- Usurper II: Skeletal Season (Necropolis Records 1998/ Dissonance Productions 2018)
Na "Usurper II: Skeletal Season" usłyszycie zarówno wpływy Cathedral, jak i Gorgoroth z czasów "Under the Sign of Hell", elementy Szwedzkiego Death Metalu oraz ogromną fascynację wczesnym Celtic Frost. Te elementy rządzą całą płytą i brzmi to, mówiąc szczerze, fenomenalnie. Powstał wielowarstwowy, acz spójny materiał, potężnie brzmiący i muzycznie sycący. Warto sobie tę płytkę amerykanów wygrzebać i spędzić z nią nieco czasu, szczerze polecam każdemu kto jeszcze nie miał okazji jej posłuchać!

Pożoga- The Funeral Pyre (Self- released 2018/ 2019)
Debiutancki krążek Pożogi to poniekąd połączenie starej szkoły tego grania z nieco bardziej, nazwijmy to, współczesnym podejściem do tematu. "The Funeral Pyre" jest przesiąknięty do szpiku mrokiem i niekiełznanym wręcz pokładem agresji i diabelstwa.

Urugia, F.Y.S.G., Misanthur- Impudens, Impurus, Inverecundissimus split (Self-released 2018)

Belzebong- Light the Dankness (Self- released 2018)
W ubiegłym roku, w oparach i chmurach różnej maści diabelskiego zielska objawił się scenie trzeci pełniak naszego rodzimego Belzebong. Chłopaki dalej konsekwentnie podążają Stoner/ Doomową ścieżką serwując nam wraz z "Light the Dankness" kolejną porcję ciężkiego, smolistego, miejscami wręcz transowego materiału.

Pandemic Outbreak- Collecting the Trophies (Kill Again Records 2018)

White Highway- Hittin' the Road (Lynx Music 2018)
Pierwsze dźwięki i rozpoczyna się podróż w czasie i to jaka! Podróż do lat kiedy sceną Hard Rockową i tą spod znaku tego lżejszego Heavy Metalu rządziły takie grupy jak Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Warlock/ Doro, Vixen, Dokken, Van Halen, późny Deep Purple czy Scorpions. I kto oddaje tak wspaniały hołd tamtym zespołom i tamtemu brzmieniu? Ano warszawski White Highway! Takich osobowości i takich głosów scenie potrzeba.

Non Serviam: The Official Story of Rotting Christ (Cult Never Dies/ Crypt Publications 2018)
