Vermisst - Zmierzch Stalowej Ciemności (Fallen Temple 2020)

Po dwóch demach i splicie z Plaguespawn przyszedł czas na pierwszy szerszy materiał od Vermisst. EP "Zmierzch Stalowej Ciemności" kontynuuje black metalową krucjatę, jaką zespół rozpoczął 2 lata temu. Dalej serwuje nam sztukę inspirowaną takimi aktami jak Kvist, Taake czy stare poczynania Satyricon, Enslaved z czasów demówek oraz chociażby Manes. Jednym słowem, Norwegia się kłania. Nawet layout jest zrobiony w czerni i bieli, co również nawiązuje do tego, jak płytki z BM były niegdyś wydawane, jaka estetyka była tu charakterystyczna. Ale to nie wszystko. Panowie czerpią w swej muzyce nie tylko ze sceny skandynawskiej, ale i polskiej. Da się tu tak samo usłyszeć wczesny Graveland, North czy też Behemoth. Zdaje się, że zespół oddaje tu wyraźny hołd właśnie tym zespołom i ich wczesnym dokonaniom. Dostajemy tu pięć fajnych, staroszkolnych kompozycji. Dwie z nich - otwierający EP "Morkelokk" oraz zamykający "Det Skjulte", to puszczenie oka w kierunku Dungeon Synthu / Dark Ambientu, zwłaszcza ten zwieńczający EPkę. Jest to trochę w stylu tego, co pojawiało się na pierwszych trzech płytach Burzum. Jestem zaskoczony, bo Vermisst pokazał, że i w takim graniu świetnie by się odnalazł. Pozostałe trzy utwory to już czysto black metalowe twory (pragnę zaznaczyć, że z polskimi tekstami!). Surowo brzmiące, z odpowiednią atmosferą i duchem dawnych dni sceny. Słucha się tego wyśmienicie, mimo że to totalnie nic nowego. Ale czy musi? Wcale nie, jeżeli reprezentuje solidną jakość. Tak jest w przypadku Vermisst! Nie pozostaje mi nic innego, jak gorąco polecić wam tę płytkę!

After two demos and a split with Plaguespawn, it's time for the first wider material from Vermisst. EP "Zmierzch Stalowej Ciemności" continues the black metal crusade the band started 2 years ago. It also serves us an art inspired by such acts as Kvist, Taake or the old Satyricon, Enslaved from the demo period and even Manes. In a word, Norway rules here. Even the layout is made in black and white, which also refers to how BM records were once issued, what aesthetics were characteristic here. But it is not everything. The gentlemen draw in their music not only from the Scandinavian scene, but also from Polish one. Early Graveland, North or Behemoth can be heard here equally. The band seems to pay tribute to these bands and their early achievements. We get five cool, old-school compositions. Two of them - opening "Morkelokk" and closing "Det Skjulte", are winking towards Dungeon Synth / Dark Ambient, especially the ending one. It's a bit like what appeared on the first three Burzum albums. I'm surprised because Vermisst showed that they would perform good stuff in such style as well. The other three tracks are pure Black Metal (I would like to point out that they're with Polish lyrics!). Raw sounding, with the right atmosphere and the spirit of the old days of the scene. You can hear it perfectly, although it is nothing new. But must it be? Not at all if it represents solid quality. This is the case with Vermisst! There is nothing else for me to do but recommend this material to you!

Vermisst - Emanacje Prawiecznych Widm (Fallen Temple 2019)

Mamy rok 2019, a mi zdaje się jakbym przeniósł się właśnie do 1993. Taką oto podróż w czasie serwuje demo poznańskiego Vermisst. Stojący za tym projektem Vorghast (perkusja, wokal) oraz Beltah (gitara) to zdaje się weterani sceny, którzy nie tylko kultywują dawny styl i tradycje Black Metalu początku lat 90tych, ale również wciąż się w tej muzyce i brzmieniu odnajdują mimo tak znacznego upływu czasu. Odpalając "Emanacje Prawiecznych Widm" słyszymy echa wczesnych nagrań Sacrilegium, dem Xantotol, Behemoth, gdańskiego Mastiphal, czy pierwiastków norweskiej sceny chociażby spod znaku pierwszych płyt Burzum oraz Darkthrone. W czterech zawartych tu kompozycjach tkwi jeden z przykładów esencji Black Metalowej sztuki. Twórcy w ogóle nie przejmują się tu produkcją, techniką, przesadnym dopieszczaniem nagrania. Dla nich liczy się klimat, atmosfera, przesiąknięty czernią duch dawnych dni. I chwała im za to! Chwała, że im wciąż się chce, że pamiętają i nie pozwalają zapomnieć innym. Surowe riffy, posępność, wampiryczny wokal. To wszystko znajdziecie na niniejszej taśmie. Każdy jej dźwięk to wizja nocy, pełni i majaczącej na północy czerwonej łuny ognia, którą płoną niegdyś mocno i jasno! Jeżeli ktokolwiek z was ma ochotę na podróż do tamtych dni, to Vermisst ją ofiarowuje, możecie być tego pewni!

We have 2019, and it seems to me as if I had just moved to 1993. The demo of Poznań's Vermisst serves this time travel. Vorghast (drums, vocals) and Beltah (guitar) that stands behind this project seem to be veterans of the scene who not only cultivate the old style and traditions of Black Metal of the early 90s, but also still find themselves in this music and sound despite such a significant passage of time . While playing "Emanacje Prawiecznych Widm" (Emanations of the Rightful Wraiths) we hear the echoes of the early Sacrilegium recordings, demo stuff of Xantotol, Behemoth, Mastiphal from Gdańsk, or the elements of the Norwegian scene in the vein of early Burzum and Darkthrone. The four compositions here include one of the examples of the essence of Black Metal art. The creators do not care about production, technique or the excessive improving of the recording . For them the climate, the atmosphere, the spirit of old days, permeated with blackness, is what counts. And thank them for that! Total respect that they still want to do it, that they remember and do not let others forget. Grim riffs, bleakness, vampiric vocals. You will find all of that on this tape. Each note of this demo is a vision of the night, the fullmoon and a looming red glow of fire coming from the north, the one which once burned strongly and brightly! If any of you want to travel to those days, Vermisst offers it, you can be sure!
