Vader - Solitude in Madness (Nuclear Blast 2020)

Chyba najbardziej wyczekiwane przeze mnie wydawnictwo tego roku. Zapowiedzi były bardzo obiecujące, a sam krążek dosłownie zniszczył i zamiótł. Pozostał tylko pył, kurz i zgliszcza!

"Solitude in Madness" to powrót Vader w pełnej krasie i jedna z ich najcięższych, najbardziej intensywnych i energetycznych płyt zaraz obok debiutu, "De Profundis" czy "Black to the Blind". Zespół zapowiadał, że będzie to też ich najbrutalniejszy materiał od czasów "Litany" i to też prawda, tak istotnie jest (swoją drogą, bardzo kontrastujący z mocno thrashującym poprzednikiem - "The Empire"). Generał i jego armia nie wzięli jeńców! Płyta trwa niespełna pół godziny, a nie wiem, czy jakikolwiek inny materiał anno 2020 - z tych, co były i tych, co będą, będzie w stanie zrobić na mnie takie wrażenie jak "Solitude in Madness". Nie popełnię błędu stwierdzając, że to kwintesencja stylu Vader, swoista kompilacja brzmień i riffów tak bardzo ich charakteryzujących. Jest w tym ta thrashowa energia i pazur, pewna chwytliwość, jaką znamy z takich numerów jak "The Final Massacre", "The Code" czy "Triumph of Death" przewijająca się przez całą twórczość zespołu, ale i przede wszystkim ten death metalowy walec i ekstrema. Coś pięknego! Produkcyjnie i kompozycyjnie jest to majstersztyk, i nie da się temu zaprzeczyć. Wystarczy posłuchać takich kawałków jak "And Satan Wept", "Emptiness" (przynosi na myśl "Wyrocznię" Kata) lub "Final Declaration" (tak się składa, że następują na płycie jeden po drugim), aby przekonać się na własnej skórze (a właściwie uszach), że Vader długo jeszcze nie powie ostatniego słowa, a także poczuć autentyczną dumę, że mamy w Polsce taki zespół. Warto jeszcze wspomnieć, że grupa pokusiła się o nagranie coveru Acid Drinkers "Dancing in the Slaughterhouse", który odegrali jak swój własny utwór. Takie podejście do coverów lubię i szanuję - własna interpretacja i we własnym stylu. Całość albumu wieńczy znakomita okładka autorstwa Wesa Benscotera, który jest również autorem tej zdobiącej "De Profundis". Przypadek? Nie sądzę!

Dostaliśmy od Vader płytę, moim zdaniem idealną, pełną tego wszystkiego, za co od tylu lat kocha się ten zespół. Album nie wymaga dodatkowej zachęty, każdy fan metalu po prostu powinien się z nim zapoznać. W tym roku mamy Vader i potem długo nic do kolejnego miejsca na podium wydawnictw. Sztos!

For me probably the most awaited release of this year. The announcements were very promising, and the album itself literally destroyed and swept away. All that is left is dust and ashes!

"Solitude in Madness" is the return of Vader in all its glory and one of their heaviest and most intense, energetic albums next to their debut, "De Profundis" or "Black to the Blind". The band announced that it would also be their most brutal material since "Litany" and that is also very true (by the way, very contrasting with the strongly thrashing predecessor - "The Empire"). The general and his army did not take prisoners! The album lasts less than half an hour, and I do not know if any other anno 2020 material from those that have been and will be released will impress me like "Solitude in Madness". I will not make a mistake by stating that it is the quintessence of Vader's style, a kind of compilation of sounds and riffs characterising them. It includes this thrash energy and claw, a certain catchiness that we know from such tracks as "The Final Massacre", "The Code" or "Triumph of Death", running through the whole discography of the band, but above all - this extreme attitude and death metal heaviness. Something beautiful! It is a masterpiece in terms of production and composition, and it cannot be denied. All you have to do is listen to such songs as "And Satan Wept", "Emptiness" (the main riff can be associated with "Wyrocznia" by Kat) or "Final Declaration" (they appear one after another on the album) to feel it on your own skin (or actually in your own ears) that Vader is not about to say their last word, and also feel the real pride that we have such band in Poland. It is also worth mentioning that the group recorded the cover of Acid Drinkers "Dancing in the Slaughterhouse", which they played as their own song. I like and respect this cover approach - of own interpretation and style. The whole album is crowned with an excellent cover art by Wes Benscoter, who is also the author of "De Profundis" cover. Coincidence? I don't think so!

In my opinion we have received a perfect album from Vader, full of everything for which this band has been loved for so many years. The album doesn't require additional encouragement, any metal fan should check it. This year we have Vader and then a long blank space til the second place on the podium.
