Na nową płytę Horny - a konkretnie na możliwość zakupu fizycznej kopii - czekałem, zdaje się, od wiosny ubiegłego roku. Z tego, co pamiętam, była dostępna do odsłuchu (lub jakieś utwory z niej) sporo przed wydaniem CD i LP. Wreszcie na początku grudnia pojawił się cedek i już w styczniu mogłem ją nabyć w Polsce. Zanim płyta do mnie dotarła, czegoś tam z niej słuchałem, zapoznałem się z jakimiś recenzjami. To, co usłyszałem, sprawiło, że oczekiwania miałem spore. Nie zawiodłem się! To bez wątpienia najlepszy materiał Horny od czasów, gdy na wokalu był Nazgul (Werwolf z Satanic Warmaster). Płyta jest obszerna (ponad godzina odsłuchu z przewodnim motywem śmierci, podzielona na 14 części lub, jak kto woli, kompozycji), bardzo spójna, świetnie brzmiąca i przy tym wszystkim nawiązująca do korzeni tego zespołu i estetyki z pierwszych dwóch płyt, dodająca do tego mnóstwo nowego klimatu, charakteru i produkcyjne dopracowanie. Czuć, ile pracy zostało włożone w ten album. Z Horną bywało różnie - albo wydawali album bardzo dobry, albo przeciętny, a tutaj wspięli się na swoje wyżyny, oferując nam jeden z najlepszych materiałów, jakie przyszło im nagrać. Ciekawym zabiegiem było użycie tu czystych wokali, które pojawiają się co jakiś czas. Zaznaczam, nie przesadzono z tym. Nie wiem, czy to nie pierwszy taki zabieg w ich wykonaniu. O dziwo wyszło to naprawdę nieźle i nawet ci mający alergię na takie "eksperymenty" w black metalu nie powinni tutaj narzekać. To po prostu się wpasowuje (taki "Tahtien Yona" wyszedł fenomenalnie!). Horna nie zawiodła i płyta zadowoli wszystkich fanów grupy, jak i generalnie entuzjastów black metalu. "Kuoleman Kirjo" będzie również świetnym wstępem do twórczości grupy dla tych, którzy jeszcze się z zespołem nie zapoznali. Dla mnie sztos i chętnie wrzuciłbym tę płytę do swojego TOP 10 za 2020 rok, no ale za późno przyszło mi jej posłuchać.

I have been waiting for the new Horna album - and more specifically, to buy a physical copy - since last spring. From what I remember, it was available for listening (or some songs from it) quite some time before the CD and LP release. Finally, at the beginning of December, CD appeared and in January, I was able to buy it in Poland. Before the album reached me, I had listened to something from it and read some reviews. What I have heard had made my expectations high. I was not disappointed! This is undoubtedly Horna's best material since Nazgul (Werwolf from Satanic Warmaster) was on vocals. The album is extensive (over an hour of listening with the leitmotif of death, divided into 14 parts or, if you prefer, compositions), very coherent, sounding great and at the same time referring to the roots of this band and the aesthetics of the first two albums, adding a lot of new atmosphere, character and production refinement to it. You can feel how much work has been put into this album. Horna has had its highs and lows - they either released a very good or average album, and here they reached their top by offering us one of the best materials that they have ever recorded. An interesting procedure was the use of clean vocals that appear from time to time. I emphasize that this has not been overdone. I don't know if this idea was performed for the first time. Surprisingly, it turned out really well and even those who are allergic to such "experiments" in black metal shouldn't complain here. It just fits (such "Tahtien Yona" turned out phenomenal!). Horna did not disappoint and the album will satisfy all fans of the group, as well as black metal enthusiasts in general. "Kuoleman Kirjo" will also be a great introduction to the band's work for those who haven't got to know the band yet. For me, it is a great release and I would love to include this album in my TOP 10 for 2020, but it was too late.
