Tak oto dostajemy trzeci już krążek od niegdysiejszych jak i obecnych muzyków Besatt (pod nazwą Det Gamle). Na "Rex Lucifer" zespół prezentuje dość oryginalną jak na dzisiejsze czasy odsłonę Black Metalu, bardzo mocno podkutą latami 80. i starym dobrym Katem. Przebiega gdzieś w tych kompozycjach ten szaleńczy i złowieszczy BM z wpływami Norwegii, jaki znamy już z Besatt, aczkolwiek dominuje tu bardziej heavy metalowa formuła, oczywiście mroczna i posępna, ale wciąż. Riffy są chwytliwe, kompozycje nie gnają tak na złamanie karku, a w tle rozbrzmiewają klawisze nadające całości rytualnego charakteru. Co więcej, wszystkie teksty są śpiewane po polsku, co też w przypadku rodzimego zespołu można zaliczyć na plus. Kompozycje same w sobie są spójne, dobrze brzmiące i przede wszystkim urozmaicone. Mamy tu ciekawe riffy, melodie pełne atmosfery grozy. Płyta ma zarówno piekielny, jak i grobowy klimat. Ma w sobie coś z otoczki, jaka towarzyszy starym horrorom z diabłem w roli głównej. Dodam też, że charakterem i estetyką "Rex Lucifer" można by postawić obok najnowszej płyty Czorta "Apostoł". Kompletnie inne brzmienie i budowanie klimatu, ale podobne podejście do samej konstrukcji numerów. Ogólnie rzecz biorąc nowy materiał Det Gamle mi siadł i to na tyle, że chętnie będę sobie do tej płyty wracał. Kawał dobrego Black Metalu w trochę innej odsłonie, niż ta najbardziej popularna. That's how we get the third album from the past and present Besatt musicians (under the name Det Gamle). On "Rex Lucifer" they present a fairly original for nowadays type of Black Metal, very much rooted in the 1980s and good old Kat. Somewhere in these compositions hides this crazy and ominous BM with the influences from Norway, as we already know from Besatt, although the more heavy metal formula dominates here, of course dark and gloomy, but still. Riffs are catchy, the compositions do not rush to break your neck, and in the background there are keys giving the whole a ritual character. What's more, all lyrics are sung in Polish, which can also be an advantage as for a native band. The compositions themselves are consistent, with a good sound and above all varied. We have interesting riffs, melodies full of horror atmosphere. The album has both a hellish and grave-like atmosphere. It has a feeling that accompanies old horrors with the devil in the main role. I will also add that the character and aesthetics of "Rex Lucifer" could be placed next to the latest album by Czort - "Apostoł". Completely different sound and climate building, but a similar approach to the construction of songs. In general, the new Det Gamle material appealed to me so much that I will gladly come back to it more than few times. A piece of good Black Metal in a slightly different manner than the most popular one. Respect, gentlemen!
